I'm Carlos Basabe, an illustrator in Washington, DC. I create illustrations for stories and brands including Delta, United Way and the Southern Law Poverty Center.
I've dreamed of being an artist since I was a kid in La Habana, Cuba; obsessed with Disney movies and Looney Tunes shorts. So after working as a sales trainer for Samsung and Microsoft for close to 10 years, I finally decided to pursue my dream. I've since had the opportunity to do the work I love and collaborate with some of the best and most creative people.
As an artist, I take a project-centric approach; prioritizing close collaboration and research as a way to achieve the best art direction and results for each assignment. And I still try to consult that little kid from Cuba on every project, ensuring that I'm keeping true to his dream.
