I partnered with Burness Communications to create this explainer video for United Way. It highlights the work that United Way does to develop long term solutions to create to improve the access to opportunities for communities all over the country.
My responsibilities on this project included character design, look development, storyboarding and final style frames.
Working from a script provided by the client, I started by defining an art direction (below) for the world that Jared would inhabit. The look of the video was influenced by the work of Walt Parogoy and Maurice Noble, with loose monochromatic backgrounds serving to draw the viewer to the characters.
I had to design an entire family, and provide different-aged versions in several lighting scenarios. The character design was a key part of the story-telling in this video, as the characters are meant to imply income disparity and upward mobility.
